Design
A new illuminated kidney grille joins the new BMW X5, which welcomes fresh 3D taillights and headlights. The exhaust finishers, air breathers, and bumpers also get a refresh. Inside the BMW X5, Long Beach families will find changes to the cabin, which now features a Light Bar and the BMW Curved Display spanning the dash.
Performance
By adding a new 48-volt hybrid system, the two core BMW TwinPower Turbo engines become more efficient. Now more powerful, the base 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine produces 375 horsepower. An xDrive50e replaces the old xDrive45e, as the BMW X5's plug-in hybrid variant packs an additional 94 ponies to generate a combined 483 horsepower. Range also extends — by 10 miles — in the BMW X5 PHEV, which can travel to the Long Beach Museum of Art, Rainbow Harbor, and back home — all on pure electric power with 40 miles of range. Another model name change is the X5's M50i switching to M60i.
Technology
Highway Assistant joins the list of driver assistance tech, letting Long Beach motorists drive their BMW X5 hands-free on The 405 and the Pacific Coast Highway at speeds up to 85 mph. The latest iDrive 8 Operating System also joins, bringing more intuitive technology to the BMW X5.
